Welcome...

I am grateful to be living and working in ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ (Amiskwacîwâskahikan) Treaty 6 Métis Territory; colonially known as St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. I am a menstruating woman, mother, community weaver, and writer.

As a Canadian settler, I acknowledge that the foundational story into which I have been born is crumbling at my feet. Riding the tidal change of perimenopause, I am learning to source cyclical wisdom to guide me in witnessing, adapting and changing with the living, numinous world.

My Work

My work is built at the confluence of menstruality and ecology.

My work is an invitation to explore the broken relationships between body and place

Drawing from the experiences of witnessing the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda, living in a Dene community in Northern Alberta, an ecocide pilgrimage to the tailwaters of the Athabasca River, and my experiences as a mother in Jasper National Park, my work offers no solutions; it is an attempt to be a faithful witness to these times of breakdown and upheaval in which we are living. Amid my explorations of genocide, I equally know that the will to live is strong.

Using the wound as a beacon, I am learning to reach out to create webs of connection that help me think and feel with more agitated agility.

What is Menstruality?

Within the female lifespan is an ongoing initiatory journey that is marked by a girl’s first bleed (menarche), continues throughout a woman’s menstruating years, and is potentized as she transitions into menopause. This blueprint is called menstruality. Menstruality encompasses the physical, emotional, and psycho-spiritual dimensions of having a menstrual cycle.

The skills of cyclical awareness, body knowledge, and self-understanding are the cornerstones of what I refer to as flow intelligence.  As I learn and live and love my cyclical nature, confluences become exciting territories. In the language of ecology, a confluence is a meeting place between two distinct bodies of water. As two rivers mingle, there is disturbance that gives way to a more diverse streaming. This capacity to gather in and contend with complexity is what I know to be an integral part of feminine wisdom. Trusting my direct experiences and curating wisdom directly from my body, I have become more permeable and responsive to the life around me. I stretch into this living edge, inviting non-linear possibilities to emerge.
